Did anyone catch the Superyacht Cup Palma Richard Mille this year? Thirty years of the event – that’s quite a milestone for Palma’s sailing calendar.

Even if you’re not into superyachts, watching these massive vessels race around the Bay of Palma is genuinely spectacular. The atmosphere at the Real Club Náutico is always fantastic too.

Mallorca really does punch above its weight when it comes to sailing events. Between this, the Copa del Rey, and the everyday sailing scene, it’s arguably the sailing capital of the Med. What other sailing events do you enjoy watching here?

We watched from the Paseo Marítimo and the sight of those yachts under full sail is genuinely breathtaking, even for someone who doesn’t know the first thing about sailing.

The Copa del Rey in August is the big one for me. The atmosphere around the harbour is electric. Plus the PalmaVela earlier in the season is great too – a bit more relaxed and family-friendly.

Mallorca’s sailing calendar is packed. If you add the ORC regattas, the classic boat events, and all the training camps, there’s something happening on the water pretty much every week from April to October.
