Now that summer’s properly here, we’re looking for beaches and coves that are safe and enjoyable for small children (ours are 3 and 5).
We love the shallow, calm water at Playa de Muro but we’ve been going there every weekend and fancy some variety.
Ideal would be somewhere with shallow entry, calm water, some shade, and not too crowded. We don’t mind driving.
Anyone have go-to family beaches they can share?
Es Trenc is great for kids — the water stays shallow for a long way out and it’s sandy (no rocks to worry about). Gets busy in peak season though, so arrive early.
For something quieter, try Cala Mondragó in the natural park near Santanyí. Two connected bays with calm, clear water and pine trees for shade. There’s also a small beach bar for snacks.
Port de Pollença beach is excellent for little ones — very shallow, calm water and a long promenade with ice cream shops for bribery purposes. We go there almost every weekend with our two.
Also Cala Sant Vicenç has a lovely sheltered bay. The first beach (Cala Barques) is the most family-friendly.
