Sunday lunch is still a proper occasion here. Most Mallorcan families eat together, restaurants fill by 1.30pm, and the right place can make a weekend.
We’re always looking for honest recommendations — not the places that appear on every travel blog, but the ones you’d genuinely go back to on a Sunday.
A few we keep returning to:
Ca Na Toneta (Caimari). Maria and Teresa Solivellas cook what grows in the valley. The tasting menu changes with the season. Book ahead — there are about eight tables.
Es Verger (Alaró). Below the castle, up a narrow track. Lamb shoulder cooked slowly over wood. No menu — you eat what’s ready. The setting is half the experience.
Can Calent (Campos). A family-run fonda that hasn’t changed much in decades. Simple Mallorcan cooking — tumbet, frit, roast pork — done properly.
Molí des Torrent (Santa Maria del Camí). A converted mill with a courtyard. Slightly more polished, but the cooking is thoughtful and the wine list focuses on local producers.
What’s your Sunday place? Doesn’t have to be fancy — just worth the drive.
