Sóller valley — is it worth the move?

My partner and I have been living in Palma for two years and we’re seriously considering relocating to the Sóller valley. We love the mountains, the slower pace, and the Saturday market is one of our favourite things to do.

But I’m a bit worried about feeling isolated in winter, and the tunnel fees if we need to get to Palma regularly.

Does anyone live in or around Sóller? How do you find it year-round? Any advice on specific areas — Fornalutx, Biniaraix, or Sóller town itself?

I’ve lived in Sóller town for five years now and wouldn’t change it for anything. Yes, winter is quieter, but honestly that’s part of the charm. The community is small and welcoming, and there are enough good restaurants and cafés to keep you happy.

The tunnel is free for residents now, so getting to Palma is only about 25 minutes. Fornalutx is beautiful but very small — I’d say Sóller town gives you the best balance of village life with enough services.

One thing to know: renting can be tricky as there’s not much available. If you’re buying, prices have gone up but it’s still better value than Palma.
