My go-to has always been Ca’n Joan de S’Aigo in Palma for their almond ice cream, but I’m always looking for new spots. What’s your favourite heladería on the island? Any hidden gems outside of Palma?
Ca’n Joan de S’Aigo is a classic! Their almond ice cream with ensaimada is basically the most Mallorcan dessert combination possible.
My pick outside Palma: Gelats Valls in Sóller. They use local oranges and lemons and the citrus flavours are incredible. The shop is right on the main square so you can sit and watch the tram go by while eating.
Also worth trying the artisan gelato places that have been popping up in Santanyí and Artà recently. The quality across the island has really gone up.
For something different, try the sobrassada ice cream at some of the more experimental gelaterias in Palma. Sounds weird but the sweet-savoury combination is surprisingly addictive.
Also – unpopular opinion maybe – but the small ice cream kiosk at Platja de Muro (the one near the Es Braç entrance) does the best simple vanilla soft-serve on the island. Nothing fancy, just perfect on a hot day.
